Description
This magnificent, broadside-style advertising poster for a “Magniscope and Phonograph Combination” evokes the late 1890s to early 1900s era of traveling vaudeville and exhibition shows. Displaying bold, red block typography on paper, it advertises early “Moving Pictures” like the “Express Train,” “Fire Scenes,” and “Fifth Avenue N.Y.” This is an incredibly rare survivor from the dawn of cinema history, mounted in a modern wood frame under glass with a clean paper backing and wire. Objectively, the poster itself shows expected light rippling, minor ink transfer or registration variations from the printing process, and light aging beneath the glass, but it remains remarkably vibrant with no major tears or heavy staining visible.
