Lot 2507:
Description
These striking Native American Plateau-style moccasins feature vibrant, full-coverage seed beadwork in a traditional geometric pattern. The design utilizes a palette of deep cobalt blue, white, and sky blue accents, meticulously hand-stitched onto brain-tanned leather. A distinguishing feature is the thick rawhide hard-soles, which exhibit significant anatomical molding and contouring to the original wearer’s arches, evidencing prolonged historical use. The construction includes a classic fold-over tongue and ankle collars finished with a red trade cloth binding that is now heavily faded and worn. Physically, the pair remains in good antique condition; the leather is supple despite darkening and staining on the soles, and the beadwork is remarkably well-preserved with only minor thread tension wear.
