Description
This historic leather Frazier Patent cartridge box, marked for the Signal Corps 3rd Brigade, N.G.N.Y., is a sophisticated relic of late 19th-century military engineering. Patented by Capt. Douglas Frazier in 1872/1878, the design features a characteristic hinged front and a wooden block bored for 20 rounds of .45-70 Government ammunition. The interior flap bears crisp stampings for the unit and capacity. While the body and internal wood remain in good order, the piece is missing its original leather closure tab and one of the rear belt loops. The black leather exhibits expected age-related crazing and surface wear but remains a rare, unit-identified example of this patented technical gear. H 4″, W 7.5″, D 2″. H 4″, W 7.5″, D 2″.
