Lot 2164:
Description
This striking hand-woven Navajo wool rug showcases an eye-catching, regional geometric design characteristic of early-to-mid 20th-century textiles, likely reflecting Hubbell Revival or Ganado influences. Woven with natural and aniline-dyed wool yarns, the composition features a central gray field framed by a vibrant terraced red and orange border, accented by stylized crosses, small triangles, and two bold rectangular cartouches. The piece displays moderate wear consistent with age, including noticeable fraying and loss along the edges and corners, color bleeding of the red dye into the white fields, scattered light staining, and a prominent hole with exposed warp threads in the lower cream rectangle. H 55″, W 35″, D 0.25″. Please see photos for condition.
