Description
This solid oak press-back side chair was produced by the Pulaski Furniture Corporation at their Plant #1. A fine example of the late 19th-century revival style, it features ornate “pressed” carvings on the top rail showcasing scrolled and sunburst motifs, complemented by a backrest of traditional turned spindles. The seat consists of a classic woven cane panel set into the oak frame. The chair has been structurally reinforced for continued utility, including a wooden board mounted beneath the woven cane seat and wooden “side hugger” brackets secured with contemporary screw bolts. The piece is in good overall condition, exhibiting expected surface scuffs and finish wear on the legs and spindles, light fraying to the woven cane, and a small split in the wood frame near the rear spindle attachment.
