Coin Op & Advertising - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 3
Lot 2388:
Description
This elegant pair of plant stands exemplifies the sophisticated simplicity of the Arts & Crafts movement, likely dating from the early 20th century. Crafted from a rich, dark-stained walnut, each stand features a distinctive hexagonal “tray-top” surface with a raised gallery edge, supported by a graceful, slender tripod base. The architectural cut-outs in the central column and the sweeping curves of the splayed legs suggest an Aesthetic Movement influence, prioritizing form and natural wood grain. While no manufacturer’s mark is present, the hand-assembled nature and “Y” shaped metal bracing at the base indicate quality vintage construction. The pieces show some character-building wear consistent with age, including a notable chip to the gallery edge of one hexagonal top, various scuffs along the bases, and minor fading to the finish on the top surfaces. H 40.5″, W 17″, D 17″. Please see photos for condition.
