Description

These three exquisite late-Victorian era parlor photo albums serve as a testament to 19th-century domestic pastimes, combining family genealogy with mechanical amusement. The collection features two upright, lockable velvet-bound albums with ornate brass hardware, and a unique, landscape-oriented album mounted on an integrated folding stand. The stand-mounted piece features a charming celluloid winter scene on its cover and houses a Swiss-style cylinder music box mechanism; a paper label on the underside identifies it plays “The Star Spangled Banner” and “Down in the South where cotton grows.” One of the upright albums contains a collection of period-appropriate cabinet cards and carte-de-visite photographs, offering a poignant glimpse into the past. Condition: All three items display expected age-related wear, including some minor surface scuffs, light tarnishing to the brass fixtures, and slight fading on the velvet bindings. The music box mechanism is functional, and the structural integrity of the albums remains good for their age. H 10″, W 13″, D 10″ Please see photos for condition.
