Description
A framed oil on canvas by an unknown artist, possibly fashioned after a more famous artist’s work, depicting a mother with her children. The painting is signed indistinctly in the lower right, with the first name starting with “J” and the last name starting with “B.” The canvas has a 2.25-inch tear in the top center between the mother and son and shows an even darkening to the surface. The frame appears to be from the 19th century as well and has some losses and cracks to the gesso but is mostly intact. The painting measures 32″H x 20″W, with frame 42″H x 30″W.
