Coin Op & Advertising - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 3
Lot 2461:
Description
This striking piece is a premier example of the celebrated Polish School of Posters, specifically a 1973 CYRK (Circus) advertisement by the esteemed artist Jerzy Czerniawski. Czerniawski presents a whimsical, large-eyed horse with a rainbow-colored plume and a flower in its mouth, set against a rich, dark field. The artist’s signature “J. Czerniawski ’73” is clearly visible along the right margin of the print. In addition, printing codes are found on the lower right corner, “RSW Prasa-Ksiazka-Ruch . PZGraf. todz, Z. 2077/73. R-57” which links the poster to Lodz, Poland in 1973. The poster is housed in a simple wood frame under plexi; the colors remain vibrant and saturated. A small area of ripping is visible near the horses muzzle. The wood frame shows minor scuffing to the edges, and the paper backing is torn in multiple places. Please see photos for overall condition H 38.75″, W 27.75″, D 1.5″
