Firearms and Ammo Auction
Lot 1142:
Description
Here is a classic American military icon: the U.S. Springfield Model 1903 rifle chamber in .30-06 with serial number 31914. Manufactured in 1908, the receiver is clearly stamped with the Springfield Armory nomenclature and “1903”. The rifle has a replaced 22-inch barrel and is not equipped with a fix front sight, however, it does have a removable hood. A Redfield rear target sight is attached to the receiver. The wood stock is a 1903A3 stock with no visible cartouches. Overall, the stock is on good condition, showing no major dings or scratches. The finish on the barrel and receiver shows thinning and an honest, attractive patina consistent with age and service. Bore is clean and the rifling is good, but has rounded edges. Mechanically, the action and trigger are tight and appear to function properly. This is a great rifle for a new re-enactor looking to complete their impression, or someone that wants a vintage gun to target shot. Please see photos for overall condition. S/N: 319140. C&R Eligible.
