Description
This elegant piece of Chinese silk embroidery showcases a traditional “Bird and Flower” motif, featuring two magpies perched amidst blossoming plum branches, a classic symbol of luck and the arrival of spring. The hand-stitched silk threads exhibit delicate transitions in color, characteristic of Suzhou (Su) embroidery style. The artwork is housed in a unique wooden frame featuring intricate fretwork or “lattice” accents at the cardinal points, reminiscent of traditional Chinese architectural screen designs.
