Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1292:
Description
This striking piece features two intricately carved, high-relief dragons in a confrontational “confronting the pearl” pose, a classic motif in Chinese art symbolizing power and wisdom. The dragons are finished in a rich gold gilt or metallic pigment, set against a vibrant red lacquer-style or painted wood background that creates a traditional, high-contrast aesthetic. The entire scene is housed within a scalloped, polylobed gilded frame, likely of 20th-century vintage following a classic Qing-style design. The fine detail on the scales and manes suggests a composite material or meticulously carved wood. The item appears to be in very good vintage condition with minor dust accumulation in the crevices and light thinning of the gilt on the outer frame’s edges. Measures 40″ diameter x 2.5″ thick approx. Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal. From the Hollywood Blvd. Cinemas Collection.
