Description

Signed and numbered limited edition print, “Free Spirits,” by the late, great Paul Calle (1928-2010), published by Mill Pond Press in 1983. Calle was an exceptional visual historian, and this piece—featuring a stoic, fur-clad mountain man, long rifle in hand, with a golden eagle soaring above a snow-dusted, mountainous landscape—captures the romantic, rugged spirit of the American West. The artistry is a high-quality offset lithograph, beautifully presented under glass in a simple, period-appropriate brown wood frame with a tan and off-white double mat. The reverse side features the original brown paper backing with a wire hanger, as well as an identification label with the title “FREE SPIRITS” and a biographical/descriptive note about the work, indicating its origin. The overall condition is very good; the frame is solid, and the print appears clean and well-preserved behind the glass, though the paper backing on the reverse shows some minor wear and tear consistent with age and handling.
