Description

This is a stunning example of a mission or Arts and Crafts style display cabinet dating from the early 20th century (c. 1900-1920s). The piece is constructed of Quarter Sawn Oak, known for its distinct, beautiful ray fleck grain visible across the stiles and rails, and features the classic straight lines, overhanging top, and dark, warm brown stain characteristic of the era’s furniture, often associated with makers like Gustav Stickley or Roycroft. The cabinet features a single glass-paneled door with vertical wood muntins and a striking, period-appropriate patinated brass or bronze ring pull push button latch mechanism. Inside, there are three removable, internal, and adjustable shelves, offering great versatility for display or storage. The piece stands on simple, sturdy legs, typical of the style. Condition is very good for its age; the wood finish shows expected signs of wear consistent with antique use, including some minor scratches and finish variation, but no major chips or structural damage are visible. The hardware appears intact, and the glass is clear. The original lock is noted to be a push-button mechanism. H 55″, W 23″, D 14″. NOTE: Pickup/transport required. Contacts available post auction.
