Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1286:
Description
This is a classic piece of American Arts and Crafts or Mission Style furniture, likely dating to the early 20th century. The construction features quarter sawn oak with a dark, rich, fumed or stained finish, characteristic of the era and reminiscent of work by firms like Gustav Stickley or L. & J.G. Stickley. It is designed as a footstool or ottoman, featuring sturdy, square posts and slats, with a slightly curved top stretcher, which adds a subtle detail. The thick, plush dark burgundy or brown leather cushion inserted on top. The piece appears to be in very good overall condition consistent with its age. The wood shows a lovely patina, with minimal visible scratching or chipping, although the finish has slight wear on the edges and lower stretchers, as expected. The leather cushion is intact, showing the natural grain and some slight wrinkling but no major tears or deep scratches. H 15.5″, W 16.5″, D 16.5″. NOTE: Pickup/transport required. Contacts available post auction.
