Description
This is a fantastic example of a Quaint Furniture Arts & Crafts/Mission style footstool or ottoman, clearly marked with the original brass plaque for “Quaint” Furniture by Stickley Bros. Co. of Grand Rapids, Mich. The form is classic Mission, featuring straight, sturdy oak construction with through-tenon detailing visible on the posts. The piece retains a rich, warm medium-brown original finish and is topped with a generous, overstuffed, tufted cushion upholstered in a deep, saddle-brown leather. This cushion adds both comfort and a lovely contrast to the dark oak frame, making it a highly desirable accent piece. The overall condition is good vintage; the wooden frame shows minor surface wear consistent with age, including small scratches and rubs, particularly to the feet and rails. The upholstery is intact with a nice patina but no apparent rips or major tears. The brass manufacturer’s plaque is legible despite some oxidation and is secured by two small nails.
