Description
This striking modern crafted bustle honors traditional Sioux (Lakota, Dakota, or Nakota) regalia ideal for pow-wow dance or display. It features a dense fan of dark, lustrous feathers, likely imitation eagle or Turkey with vibrant green and yellow accents creating a dynamic radial design. A circular 2.75” diameter mirror in the center reflects light back on the audience. Dyed porcupine quills wrap vertical decoration on the pair of extending feathers on the top. Smaller elongated feathers possibly dark Turkey are arranged in pairs along a flowing black fabric wrapped base with red trim forming an elegant “trailer” or “spike” style, along with braided ropes w/feathers trailing down to the ground. A thick piece of leather on the back holds all the elements firmly together and is what is attached to the wearer. Designed to be worn at the back, this piece beautifully blends modern craftsmanship with traditional Sioux aesthetic principles, showcasing cultural continuity and artistic expression.
