Description

These are a fantastic set of four antique cast iron implement brackets from the late 19th or early 20th century, likely used for supporting shelving or a farm implement seat. The triangular brackets feature ornate geometric and heart-shaped cutouts with the distinctive “M M” logo and the clear casting of “MCDONALD & MORRISON MFG CO. DUBUQUE IA.” on the arch, identifying the manufacturer as McDonald & Morrison Manufacturing Co. of Dubuque, Iowa. This company was known for agricultural implements and plumbing supplies, which aligns with the robust, utilitarian, yet decorative style. The lot includes two matching triangular corner brackets and two horizontal bar brackets with multiple tapered mounting points. The material is heavily oxidized cast iron, showing a mottled surface with significant rust and remnants of what appears to be original green paint or a primer layer. The condition is good for age with expected heavy wear, patina, surface rust, and some paint loss consistent with outdoor use or long-term storage, but all pieces are structurally sound with no visible breaks or major damage. The measurements provided are: H 17.5″, W 13.5″, D 1.5″ (for triangular brackets) and H 3.75″, W 15″, D 2.5″ (for rectangular brackets).
