October Fall Classic
Lot 1213a:
Description
This is a fantastic piece of automobilia history, a vintage Roy Leitzel Ford dealership mechanic’s shop coat or duster from Newport, Pennsylvania. It’s constructed from a durable, light blue herringbone twill fabric, typical of workwear from the mid-20th century, with contrasting dark blue collar, cuffs, and belt. The back is emblazoned with bright red chain-stitched embroidery reading “Roy Leitzel Ford Newport, Pa.” and the left chest features red embroidery of the name “Roy” above the pocket. A colorful Ford dealership emblem patch is sewn onto the right chest, featuring the classic Ford oval logo and two rampant stags on a divided shield. The coat is accompanied by an 8″ x 10″ black and white print of the Roy Leitzel Ford Dealership, circa 1972, providing excellent context for the garment. The coat shows overall honest wear and fading consistent with age and use in a service garage, which enhances its vintage appeal; the fabric remains structurally sound, and all embroidery and patches are securely attached. The accompanying photo print is in very good condition. Includes: shop coat, belt, and dealership photo print. Coat: H 51″, W 19″. Print H 8” W 10”. See photos.
