October Fall Classic
Lot 1282:
Description
This is an impressive, life-size (or near-life-size) equestrian bronze statue featuring a horse in a dynamic, highly muscled stance, typically associated with classic Continental or Chinese foundry work from the late 20th or early 21st century. The casting beautifully captures the anatomical detail of a thoroughbred or similar powerful breed, with veins, sinews, and a strong musculature visible beneath the dark, seemingly chemical patina (likely a deep, near-black or very dark brown/green). The horse has both front legs firmly on the base and the rear left leg raised, poised to kick, and is mounted to a separate, large, rock-form bronze plinth or base featuring a lighter, more oxidized verdigris finish. The statue presents in good overall condition for an outdoor piece of this scale. The dark patina is mostly consistent but shows areas of minor scuffing, weathering, and light green verdigris spots, particularly in recesses and around the base, which is expected for a bronze exposed to the elements. No major breaks, cracks, or large chips are visible. H 80″, W 27″, D 88′. See photos.
