October Fall Classic
Lot 2048a:
Description
This is the show side (outside) panel of the chariot only, no bench or inside panel included. Deeply carved writhing dragon and curled leaf design by Charles Carmel. Carmel carved chariot sides with dragons that were similar to M.C. Illions. A n example of this chariot is pictured on page 164 of Painted Ponies. Approximately 1915. Seems to be in original factory paint with expected chips and wear. A fantastic opportunity to own a rare and seldom available carving. Measures 76″ long x 51″ tall.
Circa 1940’s cast aluminum carousel horse most likely from a San Antonio Roller Works or a Mangles carousel. All we know is that it came off of a carousel that was parted out in southern Illinois in the 1970’s. The horse is a jumper with very nice paint. Comes mounted on a pole and a steel diamond plate base. Comes with a pair of stirrups but no straps or bridle. NOTE: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available post-auction.
