Description
This is the show side (outside) panel of the chariot only, no bench or inside panel included. Most likely off of a Dentzel carousel. Dentzel has several examples of chariots using winged griffins. The forward portion features a carved seated winged griffin with hi right paw holding down a carved serpent. the rear features a carved satyr head surrounded by colorful carved foliage. In very well done park paint. Looks like it might have been repainted only once. No broken or missing pieces. Measures 90″wide, 48″ tall, 3″ thich.
Circa 1940’s cast aluminum carousel horse most likely from a San Antonio Roller Works or a Mangles carousel. All we know is that it came off of a carousel that was parted out in southern Illinois in the 1970’s. The horse is a jumper with very nice paint. Comes mounted on a pole and a steel diamond plate base. Comes with a pair of stirrups but no straps or bridle.
