Civil War Auction
Lot 1062:
Description
A fantastic, museum-grade CSA regulation Kepi for Captain rank with the double bullion stripes. It is complete and the brass chinstrap buttons are smooth ball type with simple tree branch design. The chinstrap shows minor wear and age. The dark blue body is medium course wool material with some wear and moth tracks and some pinhead sized moth holes to back of cap. The visor has a machine stitched reinforced edge and shows even crazing and is in solid condition. Interior has black oil cloth sweatband, brown cotton lining and stiff light blue cardboard crown stiffener. The sweatband is somewhat stiff and we are not going to flip it over for any marker’s mark or tag. Sweatband is hand stitched to wool body. The overall condition is very good with very even age to all parts and materials.
