Civil War discharge papers for Pvt. Marshall Lewis, 75th Regiment, Indiana Volunteers. He served in Company D, under the command of Cpt. John Bauchert. The 75th Indiana Infantry was organized at Wabash, Indiana and mustered in for a 3 year enlistment on August 19, 1862, under the command of Colonel Milton Stapp Robinson. Marshall Lewis signed up for a three year enlistment term, and he was discharged from service with a “Surgeons’s certificate of disability” on May 23, 1863 at “Louisville, County, of Jefferson, State of Kentucky.” He volunteered for service at Noblesville, Hamilton County, State of Indiana. Bottom half of the document was separated by the Paymaster. Stamped “JEFF R.R. MAY 27 1863” upper right corner. Signed in center, “Paid in Full May 26, 1863 Jacob Her…P111 Paymaster?” Written on back “Marshall Lewis 75 Indiana”. Measures 11-1/2” x 11-1/4” and in fair condition.
