Description
This Confederate Swallowtail guidon is of single stitch multi-piece construction cotton. It is our opinion this flag is not from the civil war period and may be a mid 20th Century production pennant. It is 20″ x 12.5″ and double sided with ten 4 point stars. The top and bottom of the hoist ends have wear that may be from nail holes/fasteners from pike or pole. The white has turned a cream color, the blue has become very muted and the red has turned to a pale brown. The wear and age seems to not be from the mid-19th Century and expert opinions report the material does not correspond with known authentic examples.
