Description
This Union Hardee hat is such a looker with is in very fine condition. Black wool felt body has no mothing, stains and has one area of distress weakness on back edge of crown. The eagle badge is held one straight prong and has some spots of red oxidation. The infantry bugle badge shows strong patina and is held in place with by two loops prongs. The blue hat cord in very nice with a little fraying to back area. Ostrich feather is clean and has black twine wrapping at tip. The sweatband is russet brown with fine ribbed pattern. There are previous stitch holes that show sweatband has been restitched The bottom of inside crown is marked with gold/yellow with “U.S. Army” over shield and spear logo over “EXTRA” over “MANUFACTURE” over “7” over “No 3”. This hat may have some level of restoration and is an excellent example of the classic Union Hardee hat.
