Description
This M1851 belt and buckle set has buckle with 1 piece applied wreath. The wreath has one broken tip and part on center missing. The buckle seems to be the like plate 664 from O’Donnell & Campbell book. It has rays coming out from all corners and eagle neck is more slender. It has benchmark 374 in corner and keeper has 361 benchmark. The belt and straps are an artificial “rough side out” leather made of some composite fuzzy material. It has 2 copper rivets securing the keeper and strap belt loops. The rest of the fitting are brass. The belt is very functional and material is very flexible. Overall condition shows much wear and age but still is good plus condition.
