Description
This bayonet has original scabbard and is marked and dated 1861 and marked “COLLINS&CO HARTFORD CT”. The very, very tip of blade is blunted and blade has no dings or nicks to blade. The blade has much discoloration and has no rust or pitting. Brass crossguard is marked “38”. Lug lock functions well. Pummel is stamped “30” on end. Scabbard is very strong but does majority of leather stitched spine has become unstitched and has much surface leather loss. Overall condition is very good and shows much and age and use. These bayonets were made for the Sharps Hankins Navy rifle.
