Description
This is an excellent example of the 12 button M1858 artillery shell jacket that may be unissued. It has a brown inked “1” and brown blotches of inked areas on right armpit. The other has light red inked “1” over “SA” and more brown ink blotches. It the lining is brown and white wool worsted cloth. All the buttons appear to match and one missing button and neck hook are present to be re-sewn. The buttons are plain thin neck eagle general service pattern. The condition is excellent plus with the red worsted piping bright colors. The 12 button holes show normal wear. The blue wool body have just a few random holes but they seem not to be from mothing and wool body is in excellent condition. Lining is in equally excellent condition and has plaid pocket lining. This is a classic shell jacket in excellent condition.
