Description

This lot features a collection of 10 early 20th-century Ediphone Safety “Master Wax” dictation cylinders along with two empty cardboard storage tubes, manufactured by Thomas A. Edison, Incorporated out of West Orange, New Jersey. These heavy, lined wax cylinders were the backbone of corporate office dictation throughout the 1920s and 1930s, designed to be recorded on, shaved down, and reused multiple times. They are housed in their original textured grey and gold-accented protective cardboard tubes, featuring the iconic “The Ediphone” script and original numbering labels. Physically, the collection presents in stable condition, showing expected light surface grime, age-related oxidation to the internal metal reinforcements, and typical minor wear or fraying to the rims of the cardboard storage containers. H 7″, W 12″, D 9″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
