“Lion and Serpent” Bronze Sculpture by French animalier sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye, features a seated lion pinning down a hissing snake, original was cast in 1832, designed to celebrate the July Revolution of 1830, lion symbolizes the French people defeating the serpent, which represents the old regime, stamped “A. Barye”, heavy bronze with a dark brown patina, mounted onto a solid black marble slab, good condition, see photos. 11 1/2″ x 6″ x 9″
