Lot 2260:
Description
This is a rare US Model 1913 Mule Riding Saddle, a specialized McClellan variant modified by the Quartermaster Department for army pack train packers. It features the distinctive metal horn attached to the pommel, a design specifically implemented around 1913 to assist those riding saddle mules. The set includes an M1892 curb bit with brass “US” bosses. This historical piece is constructed of russet leather with brass hardware, though it shows heavy wear from its service life. The leather is significantly aged, dry, and cracked, with the underside sheepskin lining almost entirely perished. The iron bit and stirrups exhibit a deep, oxidized patina and surface rust. H 12, W 12″, D 22″ Please see photos.
