Description

An intriguing pairing of late 19th to early 20th-century Americana, featuring a 3rd Model top-break safety automatic revolver manufactured by Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, alongside a striking, patriotic American West Native American-style leather holster. The firearm barrel displays the manufacturer’s clear stamped markings, and the serial number 14243 stamped on the trigger guard. The firearm features molded hard rubber “owl’s head” grips. The accompanying leather holster is heavily embellished on the front face with vibrant seed beadwork depicting an American flag motif, bordered by blue and white geometric patterns, and finished with long leather fringe adorned with red trade beads. The reverse side consists of plain dark leather with a stitched belt loop. Objectively assessing its condition, the revolver exhibits extensive pitting, dark oxidation, and complete loss of its original nickel finish, and the action is mechanically non-functioning as it does not operate as intended. The holster shows age-appropriate wear, including minor stiffness to the leather, light fraying to the fringe, and minor dirt accumulation, though the beadwork remains largely intact and securely attached.
