Description
This is a classic example of an Iver Johnson Safety Automatic Revolver. This second model variation, identified by a double post latch, is a double action, top-break revolver with a 5-shot cylinder. It has a 4” barrel and is chambered in .38 caliber. It has black checkered hard rubber grips with the iconic Iver Johnson owl head. The barrel is clearly marked Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass. U.S.A., and features patent dates spanning from 1886 to1893. The revolver has a nickel finish which shows loss and patina, specifically near the cylinder. The bore shows light oxidation, however the rifling is prominent.
