1920’s Hopi coiled plaque. Traditional labor intensive close-coil technique, consisting of 15 tightly woven spiraling coils, with this particular piece features a Kachina Crow Mother design pattern. The coil wraps remain tight. The outer coil, which constitutes the rim of the basket retains 98%of its wraps. Trays are especially significant in Hopi culture for wedding ceremonies as gifts. Dimensions: Diameter 16″ depth 1.5″.
