Description
This gunstock war club dates from the 1890s. Featuring a slender wooden handle that widens towards the head reminiscent of a gun stock. The base of the handle comes to an off-center point. The handle itself is decorated with brass tack pressed into the wood. The wood also features pressed file decoration throughout. The blade protrudes from the forward-facing edge 4.5 inches and is 1.5 inches wide at its base. Weapons like this were used by tribes in the Easter Woodlands, as well as the Plains.
