Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2194:
Description
This lot features a fascinating piece of Civil War era ordnance history: a Confederate States (C.S.) pattern leather revolver pouch paired with a vintage Union Metallic Cartridge Company friction cannon-primers cardboard box face. The black leather pouch features a single front flap with a fastening tab, a single vertical belt loop riveted to the back, and a fitted, undivided single tin insert meant to safely house ammunition. The leather shows heavy surface cracking, age-appropriate wear, and minor losses to the closing tab, though the stitching remains largely intact and the tin insert is securely in place; the cardboard primer label has been flattened and shows edge wear and staining. H 3.5″, W 5.25″, D 1.5″. Please see photos for condition.
