Description

This is an exceptional Missouri War Axe style pipe tomahawk, a classic prestige weapon and trade item dating to the mid-to-late 19th century. The hand-forged iron head features a large, diamond-shaped blade with characteristic basal curls and a functional pipe bowl. The hardwood haft is highly ornate, showcasing extensive brass trade tacks in geometric patterns and a distinct “tiger-striped” pattern achieved through file-branding or heat-treating. The mouthpiece is integrally carved into the base of the haft. The item is in good vintage condition, exhibiting a deep, natural patina on the iron and honest handling wear to the wood; the pipe bowl shows internal carbon residue from historic use. There is a small loss or split at the mouthpiece tip visible in image_4.png. H 11.25″, W 23.75″, D 1.5″. Please see photos for condition.
