Description

This exceptional trio of antique copper cookware showcases the rugged durability of historic utilitarian design, featuring two hand-hammered copper mess kettles with fitted lids and iron bale handles, alongside an additional, standalone heavy copper pot lid. Exhibiting early construction techniques with robust riveted handles and heavy tin lining designed for open-fire or camp cooking, these pieces bear distinct stamped markings including the initials “G.W.” stamped on the side of the larger kettle, “HB” on the smaller kettle’s lid, and the number “50” on the loose lid, pointing toward specialized military, naval, or domestic workshop production from the 19th century. Structurally sound with a rich, undisturbed dark patina and green verdigris tracking, the set shows historic wear consistent with age and active field use, including surface scratches, minor dents, and widespread oxidation to the interior tinning and iron hardware. Large kettle: H 8.5″, W 8.25″, D 8.25″; Small kettle: H 5.5″, W 5.5″, D 5.5″; Loose lid: H 1.25″, W 8.5″, D 8.5″. Please see photos for condition.
