Description
The true heart of this historical display is an authentic, hand-signed cut signature of Captain Thomas H. French, a legendary figure of the 7th Cavalry and a key survivor of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Personal signatures of Custer’s officers are the pinnacle of Indian War collecting. This signature, penned clearly in ink on lined paper, includes his rare and desirable rank and unit designation: “T.H. French, Capt. 7th Cavalry, Commanding the Company.” It is mounted alongside a reproduction profile photograph of the Captain in uniform. The entire assembly is presented in a black wooden frame with cream-colored incised decorative motifs. The cut signature is in excellent condition with clear, dark ink and a natural aged patina to the paper; the frame and reproduction image show minor surface wear and light edge scuffing.
