Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2061:
Description
These striking leggings, likely of Plateau or Plains origin from the late 19th to early 20th century, are crafted from deep red trade cloth with classic white-core glass beadwork. The geometric “mountain” or diamond motifs in green and red against the white beaded strip are indicative of traditional tribal aesthetics, accented by purple felt “sawtooth” applique and brass sequins at the base. While the beadwork remains largely intact and vibrant, the wool substrate shows significant evidence of historical use and age, including heavy moth grazing and several prominent holes throughout the red fabric. The purple felt trim also shows minor fraying at the edges. H 35″, W 13.5″. Please see photos for condition.
