This curated lot of six foundational reference volumes is an indispensable treasure trove for any serious historian of early recorded sound and mechanical music. The collection features a diverse range of critical texts, including Daniel Marty’s beautifully illustrated Les Phonographes, Russell Miller’s comprehensive history The Incredible Music Machine published by Quartet Books in London (1982) as captured in image_2.png, H.E. Roys’ technical anthology Disc Recording and Reproduction, the detailed 1889-1993 Jukeboxes Volume 1 reference guide with its distinctive plastic comb binding, Walter Haas and Ulrich Klever’s Die Stimme seines Herrn, and the Country Music Foundation Press 1974 reprint edition of the Proceedings of the 1890 Convention of Local Phonograph Companies shown in image_3.png. Constructed from paper, cardboard, and plastic, these books are in stable, very good condition overall, displaying minor edge scuffing, light corner bumping, and typical handling wear consistent with active library reference use while maintaining clean, entirely legible interior pages.
