Phonograph Records And Books Auction - ONLINE ONLY
Lot 2061:
Description
A fantastic collection of vintage and antique literature detailing the early history of recorded sound, featuring early 20th-century monographs and reference guides. This lot includes Uncle Josh’s Punkin Centre Stories by Cal Stewart (1905, Thompson & Thomas, Chicago) complete with a historical 1910 ownership inscription from Hancock County, Illinois; Randy McNutt’s biography Cal Stewart: Your Uncle Josh (1981); a highly annotated 4th edition copy of The Victrola Book of the Opera (1917) packed with historical handwritten performance and artist notes; a 1972 facsimile edition of the rare August 1898 Pathé Frères Phonographes et Pellicules catalog; and the Italian audio history publication Stereostory: 1877-1977 100 anni di riproduzione sonora (1978). The collection shows expected age-related wear, including some spine wear, corner bumping, and heavy period handwriting/annotations inside the Victrola volume, yet remains a highly desirable reference group for the phonograph enthusiast. Stacked: H 4.5″, W 12″, D 9″. See photos for condition.
