Description

This substantial 12-volume group of The Edison Phonograph Monthly exact reproduction volumes is a treasure trove of information for cylinder machine researchers and restoration enthusiasts alike. Compiled and published as a private subscription by Wendell Moore in the late 1970s and printed by Pennant Litho, Inc. in Louisville, Kentucky, these hardbound crimson cloth volumes feature gold-gilt spine lettering and preserve the technical, marketing, and cultural trade data of Thomas Edison’s early recorded sound empire from 1903 through 1916. This continuous run includes Volumes I, II, III, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, XI, XII, XIII, and XIV (noting volumes IV and X are missing from the series). Eleven of the volumes are hand-signed by Wendell Moore and designated as number 20, while Volume III is numbered 668 and remains unsigned as issued. The lot presents in very good condition, showing mild shelf wear, light handling smudges to the cloth covers, and minor bumping to a few corners, though the inner text blocks remain clean, bright, and securely bound. Stacked: H 9.75″, W 6.75″, D 9.75″. Please see photos for condition.
