Description
A bound library volume of the North American Review (Volume 126), published in Boston and copyrighted by Allen Thorndike Rice in 1878, represents a crucial moment in the history of recorded sound. This specific compilation contains the historic January-February 1878 issue featuring the landmark article “The Phonograph and its Future” written by Thomas A. Edison on page 527. Professionally bound for institutional use, the volume features a deep burgundy textured cloth spine with handwritten white ink library lettering, patterned endpapers, an “Erie Public Library” bookplate dated 1897, and an embossed stamp from the Brookline Public Library.
