Description
Brown wax cylinder is paired with a historic typed and handwritten note identifying the recording as Columbia selection #4594, “Because,” performed by pioneer recording artist Steve Porter, dated 1899. The cylinder is in stable condition with no visible breaks or cracks, displaying moderate surface oxidation, light mold spotting typical of early wax compositions, and minor edge handling wear.
