Phonograph Records And Books Auction - ONLINE ONLY
Lot 1010:
Description
A brown wax phonograph cylinder manufactured by the Columbia Phonograph Co. of New York & Paris, dating to circa 1898–1899. The cylinder features recording number 5272, “She’s a Beaut from Butte Montana,” performed by pioneer recording artist Dan W. Quinn. This piece comes housed in an Edison Gold Moulded Record cardboard storage tube with a vintage lid slip for an Ada Jones tune. Objectively, the cylinder itself is in very good condition with no visible structural cracks, breaks, or scratches. The highly fragile original paper title slip is fragmented but safely preserved in a plastic sleeve, and the storage container shows expected exterior age wear and fading. H 4.75″, W 2.75″, D 2.75″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
