Lot 2311:
Description
This porcelain reservist stein commemorates service in the Kgl. 9. Inft. Rgt. „Wrede“ (Royal Bavarian 9th Infantry Regiment) in Würzburg. A true collector’s piece, it features a rare faceted prism glass lid insert depicting a camp scene (“In Biwak”), a high-relief Bavarian lion thumb-lift, and a lithophane bottom. The body is finely detailed with unit names—specifically mentioning Georg Bronsack—and vibrant transfer scenes of maneuvers and garrison life. Condition is good overall, showing minimal pewter loss on the ring securing the glass prism, light oxidation to the metal hardware, and minor shelf wear to the base; the porcelain remains free of chips or cracks. H 9″, W 6″, D 4.5″ Please see photos for condition.
