Hard to come by The Royal Patriotic Society Oscar II reward medal was a Swedish decoration instituted in 1802 and awarded during Oscar II’s reign (1872–1907) for long, faithful service, agricultural, or charitable achievements. The obverse shows a right-facing image of the king, under the image the name of the engraver: “LEA AHLBORN”. In the circumscription: “OSCAR II SVERIGES NORR. GÖTH. O. TURN. KING.“ and the reverse shows group of industry et al. mind images on a sea shore such as packing bale, mercurial rod, loom, shuttle, beech, hammer, anvil in its cube, plow. On the sea a sailing ship. On the side behind a mountain the rising sun. Above this the text: “KL SV. PATR. SOCIABLE”. Very good overall condition with light scratches noticeable under close examination. Approximately 36 mm 23k gold medal with 18k crown suspension composing 30.5 grams in total weight (no ribbon) and showcased inside original green case with handwritten Scandinavian text on the silk lining.
