The Top 300! - Spring Classic Part 2
Lot 189:
Description
This massive, vintage museum exhibition display graphic features a striking reproduction of a medieval woodcut depicting figures playing cards and dice, rendered in a bold, dark brown linework with subtle red and blue watercolor-style washes. A fascinating piece of casino history, the back bears an original gallery/exhibition label from Exhibitgroup Los Angeles, detailing its use for the “Marnell/Carrao — Gambling Museum,” a nod to the legendary Las Vegas architecture and construction firms behind iconic megaresorts like the Mirage, Bellagio, and Wynn. Structurally, the oversized piece is composed of two separate panels joined down the center seam, surrounded by a white border and housed in a large, gilded wood frame. Objectively, the piece shows minor age-related wear to the frame, slight fading to the paper border, and visible dust and debris trapped between the plexiglass and the artwork, indicating it will need to be disassembled for proper cleaning.
